Including Remote Presenters in your TribuCast®

GETTING STARTED WITH StreamYard

The following is an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide on how to include remote guest presenters in your TribuCast® from virtually anywhere in the world!

TribuCast uses StreamYard, an easy-to-use “Virtual Green Room”, to include remote guest presenters, clergy and eulogists in your TribuCast.  You will need to designate someone as your “Host” and that person, using a PC, will be responsible for inviting, including and managing the remote guest presenters in your TribuCast.

NOTE: You will need a camera at each location you and your guest presenters will be broadcasting/presenting from (the same internet upload speed requirements apply for all locations and guest presenters).  Similar to a typical TribuCast, all you’ll need for a camera is an iPad or iPhone (and yes, Android devices work as well).

  1. To start:
    • Use Google Chrome and go to www.streamyard.com to set up an account.
NOTE: While StreamYard has a free version, it will include StreamYard branding in your broadcast and doesn’t allow broadcasting to TribuCast’s Custom RTMP servers. To remove the StreamYard branding and broadcast to the TribuCast pages you create you will need to subscribe to their basic service ($20/month).*
    • The first time you use StreamYard you will be asked to “Add a destination”:
      • i. Choose “Custom RTMP” and click “Upgrade” to sign up for StreamYard’s Basic plan ($20/month).
      • Enter the TribuCast server address into the “RTMP server URL” field: rtmp://bintu-stream.nanocosmos.de:1935/rec
      • Enter your TribuCast Stream Security Code in the “Stream key” field.
NOTE: You will edit this code each time you do a new TribuCast.
      • Enter “TribuCast” in the “Nickname” field.
      • Click the “Add RTMP Server” button.
  2. To configure StreamYard for a new TribuCast:
    • Click “Destinations” and then
      • Click the three dots to the right to edit the TribuCast destination and input the Stream Security Code for that service.
      • Click “Edit RTMP Server” to save the new settings.
    • Click “Broadcasts” then “Create a Broadcast”.
      • Under “Broadcast to” click on “TribuCast” and give the broadcast a title like “Service for [name of deceased]” and click “Create Broadcast”.
    • As Host you will be asked to confirm your own camera and microphone settings and give yourself a display name (consider using your funeral home’s name).
  3. Invite your remote guest presenters by clicking on the “Invite” button and sharing the link provided with them.
    • When using StreamYard you won’t be using Airmix Solo. All your guest presenters need to do to join is click on the link and give StreamYard access to their camera and microphone.
  4. Your Host will have the ability to decide who can be seen when during the broadcast (in the same way a television producer decides which camera will be displayed when).
  5. Once you get the hang of it you’ll see that StreamYard also enables you to share videos, photographs and screen overlays in much the same way Airmix Solo does.
  6. As always, TribuCast will record your service and make it available for 90 days.
  7. Don’t forget to personalize your TribuCast Interactive Touch Points so remote attendees can engage with family photos, memorabilia and remembrances in much the same way those attending in person can.

If you have any questions or issues, please contact TribuCast at (800) 782-0104. TribuCast Advisors are available to answer questions, assist with technical issues and monitor your tribucasts for video and audio quality.

*You have the option of hiring one of TribuCast’s Authorized Partners to act as your Host so you don’t have to tie up personnel or pay StreamYard’s monthly fee.
